Blurred Lip Tutorial + Every Product You Need

You know the way your lips look after you’ve eaten fresh blackberries? Perfectly stained, with just enough colour that’s almost hard to achieve any other way? Well, we’re here to tell you that creating a blurred lip stain is more than possible—no berries required.

The appeal of a “blurred lip” look is all about its effortlessness. It gives a just-woke-up-this way effect that’s great for everyday wear. Not to mention, choosing a shade that’s just a touch darker than your natural colour is a great way to get the no-makeup makeup look. So, let’s breakdown exactly what you need and how to achieve the blurred lip look.

What You Need for Blurred Lips

Most obviously, you will need a lip colour. It’s up to you whether you want to use a cream lipstick, a liquid lipstick, a lip stain, or a lip crayon, however we’re partial to our High Vibe Lip Colour. It's a lip product that combines the best of each option as it’s vivid, creamy, hydrating, and offers a 6-hour wear time. Convinced? We thought you might be.

If you’re going for that just-bitten effect, we suggest snagging one of our deeper shades like Love, Burst, or Click, but really, you can’t go wrong with any option. Choose a lip colour that suits your skin tone, and you’ll feel confident no matter what.

Next up, you’ll need a tissue and our Translucent Loose Setting Powder. The blurred lip look is typically matte which is why these two items will be necessary to the overall effect.

Ready to try? Let’s breakdown how to apply everything.

Step by Step Blurred Lip Tutorial

Now that you have everything you need to get the ultimate blurred lip look, you’re ready to go. Here’s how:

Step One

Taking your lipstick, apply the colour to the direct centre of your lips.

Step Two

From there, use your finger to diffuse the colour across the rest of your lips without using more products. You’re attempting to ombre the colour out from the centre.

Step Three

Next, use a tissue to lightly blot your lips.

Step Four

Finally, take one of our velour puffs and press it into your loose setting powder. Tap away any excess before dabbing and rolling the puff across your lips. This will set the lip colour and extend the wear.

And voilà! Your blurred lip makeup look is complete.
